# Create a Telegram account

You’ll need a Telegram account before using Conso. Use the official Telegram apps to register and secure your login.

To use Conso, you must first have a Telegram account. Registration is straightforward, but it’s important to use the official Telegram app and set up basic security from day one.

#### **Before you start**

* Use Telegram or Telegram X (official clients) for registration.
* Prepare a phone number that can receive SMS (or a call verification if required).
* If you plan to use Telegram long-term, enable security features early.

**Install an official Telegram client**

Download and install Telegram (recommended) or Telegram X.

Open Telegram and follow the sign-up flow:

* Enter your phone number
* Receive a verification code
* Set your name and optional username

A username makes it easier for others to find you and helps you join communities without sharing a phone number.

**Secure your account (highly recommended)**

* Enable Two-Step Verification (a password in addition to login codes)
* Review Active Sessions (logged-in devices)
* Keep recovery info up to date

#### **Common pitfalls**

* Codes may arrive on another logged-in device: Telegram often delivers verification codes to an existing Telegram session first.
* Don’t register via unofficial clones: it increases the risk of account loss or interception.
* Don’t skip Two-Step Verification if you use Telegram for Web3 communities.
